The Arc table by Foster + Partners Industrial Design for Molteni&C draws inspiration from tensile fabric structures and is generated by software to precisely calculate the minimum required thicknesses for its structure throughout the 3D form.
The base is crafted from ductal – a lightweight, fibre reinforced cement that combines strength, elasticity, and low specific weight. Moulded in a single seamless block and mass-dyed, the base achieves a fluid, sculptural form that supports the tabletop with precision. The base's dynamic shape is a sweeping form anchored by three legs– between each extension, the material curves upwards to balance the tabletop. The top is available in tempered glass, concrete or stone, measuring either 140 or 150 centimetres in diameter or in oval forms.
