Desk Z is the final component of the XYZ office system, a collaborative effort between Foster + Partners Industrial Design and UniFor. The desk is the result of a collaborative aim to create a sit/stand desk without electronic actuators or crank handles. The total absence of power cables and the unique nature of the Desk Z allows users to move, combine and organize them freely according to individual uses and work requirements.
The desk is equipped with a custom-engineered and patented spring and cam mechanism, housed within an aluminium frame, that can adjust and maintain the position of the work surface quickly and intuitively with simple manual pulling and pushing movements. The double-sided frame accepts a range of materials, from acoustic fabric to timber veneers, adding both functionality and versatility to any workspace.
