Gather is a modular seating system and outdoor furniture collection designed for Escofet, a Barcelona-based company that works with urban elements and architectural concrete to transform public spaces. Developed in conversation with the practice's landscape and urban design teams, Gather looks to create more private and relaxed outdoor areas.
A range of linear, concave, convex, and end modules are combined to create different configurations, including enclosed pocket spaces, straight benches, or seating around green islands.
The collection's durable elements are made from ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) for a sleek and thin profile, the backrest gradually tapers to a thickness of just 40 millimetres. Gather is available in four different standard concrete colours – grey, black, white, and beige– and has optional armrests and skate stoppers. The range has been carefully designed to fully comply with universal accessibility guidelines, such as its 105-degree angle between seat and backrest, 45 cm seating height and depth, as well as a seating surface tilt of 8 degrees for increased comfort.
